JOB DESCRIPTION

About the Role

The Monash Health South East Public Health Unit (SEPHU) is a newly established unit working to prevent and respond to the spread of COVID-19 in the south-east suburbs of Melbourne and along the Peninsula.

The Communications Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies that support the work of the unit. Initially, this will involve supporting the unit’s response to COVID-19 outbreaks and public health strategies intended to prevent the spread of the virus.

Over time, the unit’s role will evolve to play a larger role in public health initiatives across the south-east corridor. This will be realised through strong collaboration between Monash Health, Alfred Health and Peninsula Health.

At this time, the Communications Manager will create and implement communication strategies for these initiatives. This will require strong collaboration with key external and internal stakeholders, including DHHS, multiple health services, partners and the community.

As part of an integrated communications unit, this role also provides leadership and support across a broad range of areas including web, digital/multimedia, brand management and external communications, setting strategy, and providing leadership, advice and support to team members.

It's an exciting time to work in public health. If you're driven, enthusiastic, love communications, and want to make a real difference in people's lives, this could be the role for you.

About You

You love what you do and bring your smile to work.

You hold relevant qualifications in communications or similar, supported by strong technical expertise, and have a track record of success in implementing communications programs that effectively engage stakeholders.

You work supportively and collaboratively at both strategic and tactical levels. Your personal style enables you to build rapport, credibility and trust quickly, and you are adept at managing stakeholders, issues and reputation.

A superior communicator, you are comfortable working with ambiguity and in environments of constant change, high scrutiny and high demand.

You are known for developing and executing effective, creative, results-driven communications strategies aligned with tangible business objectives.
