Registered Psychiatric Nurse - Northern Psychiatric Inpatient Service



  • Join our multidisciplinary team to contribute to excellence in patient care and provide the highest standard of clinical input


  • Multiple positions available - Full time and part time options. Permanent and ongoing


  • Based at the Northern Hospital - Epping

Your new team



  • The Northern Area Mental Health Service is an integrated network of mental health services providing psychiatric services to residents in the Cities of Darebin and Whittlesea.

  • Services include Acute In-patient Unit, Emergency Mental Health Service, Continuing Care Teams, Community Care Units and PARC

  • The Northern Adult Acute Mental Health Inpatient Unit (NPU) provides comprehensive treatment and support to people who are in an acute phase of mental illness, and are unable to be provided treatment in a community setting.

  • The 50 bed service comprises of two 25 bed units each designed with 5 ICA beds and 20 LDU beds.


Your success in this role, will be in your ability to



  • Be accountable and responsibile in nursing care and customer service.

  • Ability to negotiate and communicate with staff and other service providers

  • Support service performance and care standards within the Inpatient Unit

  • Work rotating rosters (morning, afternoon & night) as required to ensure clinical service delivery.


Your Contribution



  • Demonstrated excellence in provision of nursing care within the multidisciplinary workforce

  • Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA)

  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse and complex clinical presentations

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • High level of reliability and professional conduct
