About Early Childhood Services

Our Specialist First Steps for Autism Early Intervention Program supports over 800 children across Western Australia including regional communities. Our multifaceted Early Intervention program includes a specialist team of Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Specialist Educators, and Therapy Assistants. Together the team deliver early intervention services including diagnostic assessment, specialist play groups, and a diverse range of therapy programs delivered individually and in groups at our specialist centres and across community settings including home, childcare, and school. Our Early Intervention team also includes a specialist Augmentative and Alternative Communication team, specialist Mealtime Management team, and a specialist Positive Behaviour Support team. Our manualised, evidence-based program integrates research best practice.

About the Role

We are looking for dynamic and highly organised Speech Pathologists to join our First Steps for Autism Early Intervention Program. In addition to a passionate commitment to providing a service of excellence to young children with Autism and their families; the successful applicant will possess sound clinical skill experience as a Speech Pathologist, experience working with young children with disabilities, high level communication skills, and a demonstrated commitment to the rights of people with disability and their families. Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Clinical assessment, development, and implementation of Individual Therapy Plans
  • Direct Therapy across environments include in a clinic, home and school and community
  • Delivery of Social & Communication skill development groups
  • Delivery of Specialist meal time individual and group programs
  • High Tech Augmentative and Alternative Communication- Assessment and implementation of Communication systems.
  • Training and Coaching of families to integrate communication strategies across home routines including Hanen Training/ PECS

About You

You will need to possess the following attributes and qualifications

  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Team builder
  • Bachelor of Speech Pathology
  • Eligibility for registration with Speech Pathology Australia
  • Sound experience in working with young children with disability and their families
  • High level communication skills
  • Demonstrated passion and commitment to working with children with Autism and their families.
