What you'll be doing

To provide assistance to the clinician to deliver a high standard of general oral health care including oral health education to eligible patients at facilities across Western Sydney Local Health District predominately in a mobile dental van setting or with use of portable dental equipment visiting schools and other external locations including hospitals / residential homes, domiciliary sites. Please note this position may also include rostering to fixed clinics in the WSLHD Oral Health Facilities.
This position includes working a Monday-Saturday roster 38 hours per week.

Essential Criteria:
Qualification: Certificate III in Dental Assisting or recognised equivalent/current enrolment in the course.
Selection Criteria:

  1. Recent, adequate experience as a Dental Assistant.
  2. Demonstrated ability to assist the clinician in a four-handed environment, with a variety of dental procedures including general and specialised care.
  3. Demonstrated ability to perform effective infection control procedures in all aspects of Dental Assisting.
  4. Demonstrated proficiency and accuracy in dental charting.
  5. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions
  6. The ability to work in a large, multidisciplinary team, and be able to liaise effectively with a range of individuals including fellow health care workers and the general public
  7. Excellent organisational, time-management and problem- solving skills.
  8. NSW drivers licence C (Car), willingness to drive the Mobile Dental Van or up to 4.5 Tonne truck and assistance in assembling and dismantling the mobile dental clinic on an as needs basis is required
