What you'll be doing
The Occupational Therapist provides clinical expertise in the delivery of occupational therapy services within SERH Mental Health Inpatient Unit including the provision of safe, timely, compassionate and high quality person-centered care. The position works within an integrated mental health rehabilitation and recovery service.

Selection Criteria

  1. Current registration with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as an Occupational Therapist.
  2. A minimum of 3 years full time post graduate experience, including demonstrable/substantial experience in designing and implementing recovery oriented programmes including group programmes and knowledge of contemporary mental health recovery principles.
  3. Demonstrated effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team and have sound ability to negotiate and communicate complex issues for constructive outcomes.
  5. Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge, skills and clinical reasoning in occupational therapy assessment and intervention for consumers with a lived experience of severe mental health.
  6. Demonstrated ability to analyse problems, set priorities and apply a range of options to develop solutions.
  7. Demonstrated experience in service evaluation and staff and student supervision and training.
  8. Evidence of a current unrestricted drivers’ licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.

This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2020_017. All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy.
