What you'll be doing

T his position within the Fast Track Trial team requires a clinical psychologist with expertise in eating disorders and weight management and entails working collaboratively within the Fast Track Trial research team to provide ongoing support to study staff and participants. The Fast Track Trial is an NHMRC-funded randomised controlled trial of two dietary interventions (intermittent energy restriction and continuous hypocaloric diet) in adolescents (13 – 17 y.o.) with moderate to severe obesity. 
The psychologist will:

  • Review screening survey data on participants
  • Identify issues to discuss with study dietitians and paediatricians
  • Assess participants who have been identified as ‘at risk’ by study clinicians or on the screening/monitoring questionnaires.

The clinician will also provide treatment planning and referral to local treatment services for study participants only.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Minimum 2 year full time equivalent accredited postgraduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. Full registration with the AHPRA Psychology Board of Australia, with Clinical Psychology endorsement, or eligibility to progress to the same.
  2. Clinical skills and expertise with eating disorders or weight management
  3. Experience working in a multidisciplinary team led by a medical consultant
  4. Experience in paediatric psychological assessment and therapy, specifically in cognitive behaviour therapy and systemic family therapy at a minimum.
  5. Capable of independent initiation as well as ability to work well in a team.
  6. Demonstrated research and publication
