About Monash Heart Cardiothoracic/Respiratory/Cardiac Day Wards at Monash Health

Monash Health is the largest public health service in Victoria, employing over 18,000 people across a range of specialities.

The Victorian Heart Hospital (VHH) will be Australia’s first dedicated heart hospital. The VHH will be an iconic structure facilitating the delivery of evidence based, patient centric, holistic models of care, ground breaking research and committed to leading education underpinned by an unwavering culture and passion for clinical excellence. The VHH is planned to open in 2022, this new hospital provides an exciting opportunity to develop a unique patient centred model of care.

Ward 32 is a Cardiothoracic/Respiratory Unit and Ward 32 West is Cardiac Day Unit. There are 8 high dependency beds that care for patients post cardiac surgery requiring inotropes, NIV, temporary cardiac pacing. We have innovated with the development of a nurse led TOE-DCR program and are focused on nursing innovation.

We support post graduate studies with Deakin University, high dependency programs and transition to speciality (TSP) programs. With two educators and clinical support nurses, our Wards are focused on building capability in all our staff.

About The Role

We are seeking Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our Cardiothoracic, Respiratory and Cardiac Care Wards and be part of our highly skilled Nursing team at Monash Heart. Our Nurses work between the Cardiothoracic/Respiratory (32 Ward) and Cardiac Day (32 West Ward) and we have developed a highly skilled, agile and resourceful workforce that remains patient centric.

Full & Part time permanent plus temporary fixed term contracts available. All Registered Nurse positions work across a 24/7 rotating roster and availability to work a minimum of 0.6 eft is required. 

About You

You are a Registered Nurse (RN) who has completed a Masters or Postgraduate studies in critical care. You are dedicated to patient centred care and focused on the delivery of evidenced based care and supporting ongoing professional development.

What You Need

  • A relevant Post Graduate Qualification, in critical care is highly desirable

  • Previous cardiac or cardiothoracic experience

  • Willingness to take on a portfolio(s) contributing to ward quality improvements and National Standards

  • Australian working rights

  • Current AHPRA registration
