Responsibilities and Duties:

Pharmacy Practice

• Oversee dispensary workflow and allocation of tasks to ensure that: 
o Prescriptions are dispensed accurately and efficiently;
o Patient wait times for prescriptions are minimised;
o Administrative tasks are completed in a timely manner;
o A pharmacist is engaging in patient care;
• Ensure that any changes to relevant procedures and policies are implemented effectively;
• Promote optimal use of time by ensuring that the majority of pharmacist’s time is spent patient-facing;

• Implement training and strategies to maximise generic substitution; 
• Ensure that the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) claims are managed including continual maintenance
of online warnings and rejections; 
• Ensure CPA programs are recorded in accordance with program business rules and that claims for CPA
programs are submitted in a timely manner;

• Oversee dispensary stock control to minimise both out of stocks and expiring stock. Stock turn targets should
be considered;

• Ensure that recorded controlled drugs balances accurately reflect physical balances at all times; report
variations as soon as practicable;

• Document all dispensing errors and breaches in ethical or legal practice and report to GPPW Support Office,
relevant state health departments and professional indemnity insurers. 8
• Assume responsibility for professional practice in the pharmacy; ensuring compliance with legal and
professional obligations, not limited to the Pharmacy Board of Australia Codes and Guidelines, PBS legislation,
and state poisons legislation;

• Deliver the following pharmacy services: 
o provision of dose administration aids;
o clinical interventions;
o solution selling;
o staged supply;
o MedsChecks;
o health promotions;
o pharma funded services;
• Actively promote patient Medadvisor sign ups;

• Collaborate with other health care practitioners in a professional and courteous manner; 
• Supply and administer immunisations in accordance with state poisons legislation; 
• Participate in and comply with the pharmacy’s quality management system (Quality Care 2020).

Sales and Service
• Deliver GPPW 3 Steps to Service consistently and to standard;
• Maintain professional and respectful relationships with work colleagues; 
• Build relationships with customers and provide professional customer service, in response to customers'
needs, at all times; 
• Demonstrate a high level of knowledge of scheduled medicines, pharmacy services, and front of shop
pharmacy products; 
• Follow all procedures correctly when processing cash or credit card transactions; 
• Maintain awareness of in store promotions and generate customer interest; 
• Proactively engage in staff meetings and training programs; 
• Assist with training team members as requested by the management team; 
• Assist with administration duties including invoicing, banking, opening/closing of tills as required; 
• Maintain neat and tidy personal presentation and comply with the GPPW Staff Dress Policy at all times; 
• Comply with all GPPW policies and procedures; 
• Complete rostered duties (i.e. vacuuming, emptying bins, kitchen cleaning, and general housekeeping) as
directed by the management team. 
• Perform any other requirements reasonably requested by the Pharmacist Manager.

Safety and Security
• Comply with procedures to meet health and safety obligations and report any potential breaches to the
management team; 
• Apply pharmacy security procedures including customer bag checks; 
• Report any injury, hazard, near miss or illness immediately, where practical, to the management team. 

Qualifications, Experience & Behavioural Traits:
• AHPRA general registration as a pharmacist;
• Current First Aid, CPR and vaccination certification (preferred)
• Participation in Continuing Professional Development and a sound understanding of current best practice;
• Demonstrates a high degree of knowledge of products, pharmacy services and scheduled medicines;
• Excellent time management skills;
• A customer service focus;
• Highly developed interpersonal skills.
