About The Role

The Social Work Senior is a key member of the of the multidisciplinary team in the Adult Mental Health Unit, conducting high-level psychosocial assessments, and brief interventions beyond routine level of practice responding to consumers and their families/carers who are impacted by acute mental health problems. The role undertakes duties of a complex and varied nature with clinical decisions based on valid and reliable evidence and is recognised as a reference point for other clinicians in the team.

The Social Work Senior also collaborates with others to provide clinical and discipline leadership through professional advocacy and clinical governance which includes providing professional supervision and engaging in service development initiatives.

About You

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated ability to apply high level knowledge and skills in social work theories, appropriate legislation and policies relevant to the acute mental health inpatient context and skills beyond routine practice in social work assessment and interventions with consumers and their families/carers who have complex needs.
  • Demonstrated capacity to function and deliver clinical services of a complex and varied nature where principles, procedures, techniques and methods require adaptation or modification with relative autonomy, initiative and professional judgement.
  • Demonstrated investment to a service (including team and discipline) through identified contributions resulting in improved service provision; better consumer outcomes and discipline specific activities.
  • Demonstrated capacity to negotiate difficult clinical and professional situations requiring a high level professional and ethical skills in managing conflict while promoting collegiality and integrity within the service.
