About Us

Wurli-Wurlinjang Health Service is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation delivering primary and clinical health care services to the Aboriginal people in Katherine and surrounding communities in a style and manner that makes clients feel welcome and comfortable. Services include acute and general care, chronic disease, alcohol and other drugs, social and emotional wellbeing and client support services. In late 2020, Wurli expanded their primary oral health care services to include dental care to provide accessible primary oral health care to our clients.

About the Role

We are currently seeking a suitably qualified Dental Assistant for a short term placement to start ASAP through till 30 June 2021. In the role of Dental Assistant you will:

  • Provide high quality clinical and administrative services to primarily Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander clients for oral healthcare
  • Provide assistance to the dental practitioner to carry out dental procedures on clients
  • Prepare instruments for dental procedures, clean and maintain dental treatment equipment and rooms in accordance with standard infection control procedures
  • Use the electronic health record (Communicare) and dental management program (Titanium) for recording and reporting purposes

To be successful you will have a Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting and Oral Health Promotion; excellent time management and organisation skills; well-developed verbal, non-verbal and written skills; proven ability to be punctual, reliable and the ability to multi-task; and be computer literate.

Please note: It is a requirement that prior to commencing in this role, you must possess a Working with Children (Ochre Card), a National Criminal History Check (within 3 months) and a current Northern Territory manual driver’s licence.

Experience of working closely with and having a strong understanding of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander culture would be considered an advantage.
