Senior Dentist


Dental Department


Grade 3-5 (dependent on experience)
Permanent Full/Part Time
(up to 80 hrs per fortnight) with ADO


The Position


We are seeking a qualified Dentist to join our dedicated Dental team at Wimmera Health Care Group. This permanent full or part time position is available immediately and includes working Monday to Friday. This role involves joining a busy and progressive regional public health service and providing a broad range of general and emergency dental care. The successful applicant will provide advanced skills to independently undertake clinical duties and provide direct patient care to the eligible clients with commitment to public health principles. The senior dentist is responsible for providing clinical leadership to staff within the dental department, and will provide supervision and guidance to dental staff and less experienced dentists in accordance with DHSV clinical standards and policies to ensure the implementation, maintenance and provision of high quality and efficient services. Salary for this position is negotiable.

The city of Horsham has a population of 19,500 and is 300 kms from Melbourne on the Western Highway and 400kms to Adelaide. It is a well serviced city with diverse education and businesses, positioned at the northern end of the Grampians National Park, nearby lakes and world famous rock-climbing areas as well as being a wine and food hub.


The Health Service


Wimmera Health Care Group has an average of 325 births per year, 12,500 admissions and 4,600 operations and 16,000 ED attendances annually. We have a modern theatre complex, including a day procedure unit, a five-bed intensive care unit, and acute and subacute wards all set within a picturesque garden setting.



Key Selection Criteria include:


Essential:




  • Dental qualification eligible for registration as a Dentist with AHPRA




  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in general dentistry and complex oral health problems




  • Ionizing Radiation Apparatus Operating Licence in Victoria




  • Clinical leadership experience with proven ability to work effectively in a team in fast changing environment




  • An interest in working in a community setting, empathy and understanding of health card holders, youth and people with a disability




  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills and an ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders




  • Prescriber number





Desirable:




  • Membership of relevant Professional Association and participation in professional development programs




  • Knowledge of dental public health principles




  • Understanding of the Titanium dental software
