Your new team

We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Speech Pathology team. This is a part time (0.6 EFT), ongoing Grade 2 position, working 48 hours per fortnight. This position will be based in the RMH@Home service, a subacute program that provides an inpatient home-based model of care for patients requiring GEM or Rehabilitation. The service offers a short term, intensive, multidisciplinary approach to patients that are referred from inpatient services, outpatient clinics and the community. The premise is that patients benefit from achieving their goals in their own environment. The position is based from the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Royal Park Campus. However, allocation of clinical team and work location is at the discretion of the Speech Pathology Manager and based on needs of the department and the Melbourne Health service needs.

Your success in this role, will be in your ability to:

  • Provide quality care to clients through competent clinical skills, effective communication, and active participation within a multidisciplinary team environment

  • Through your consolidating clinical expertise, ensure excellence in client care and dissemination of information to staff and clinical teams

  • Contribute to the internal professional development program and participate in program development

  • Provide supervision to grade 1 staff and students.

Formal Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Masters of Speech Pathology (or equivalent)

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum 2 years experience working in the acute, sub-acute or community setting

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and written skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and in co-operation with others

  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to Departmental Quality Projects or Service Development

  • Clinical skills in comprehensive assessment, management and discharge planning

  • Videofluoroscopy competency

  • Professional behaviour and conduct which reflects self-initiative, confidentiality, self-evaluation and commitment to professional development

  • Previous experience in a related field and good working knowledge of community support services

  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence

  • Skills in Microsoft Office suite of programs

  • Commitment to continued professional development

  • Ability to manage a demanding workload and effectively prioritise tasks.

Desirable but not essential for performance in this position

  • Membership to Speech Pathology Australia

  • Developing skills in research

  • Developing skills in program development and evaluation

  • Previous professional presentations (special interest groups or conferences)

  • Previous experience in supervision of staff and students

  • Supervision training
