JOB DESCRIPTION

An exciting opportunity exists for a Social Worker with a strong interest in and commitment to mental health consumer group to join the very experienced and dedicated PECC team at Hornsby hospital.

Employment Type: Temporary Part Time until 17 April 2022
Position Classification: Social Worker Level 1/2
Remuneration: $32.51 - $47.10 per hour

Where you'll be working
This position is located at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital.

What you'll be doing
To provide Social Work services to consumers and their carers to ensure the provision of optimal health outcomes consistent with NSLHD policies and procedures, standards, relevant legislation, and the NSW Health Code of Conduct.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  2. Social Work degree and eligibility for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), including the ability to demonstrate a practical application of the AASW Code of Ethics.
  3. Proven ability to work independently and to establish effectively collaboratively working relationships within a multi-disciplinary team and interagency networks.
  4. Demonstrated well developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Commitment to participation in professional development and quality improvement activities.
  6. Demonstrate skills and knowledge in the provision of service to consumers, carers and families requiring assessment, counselling, crisis management, case management, advocacy, intervention, appropriate referral and discharge planning.
  7. Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage workload demands, meet deadlines and complete activities (including ability to work within scope of practice and seek assistance when required).
  8. Demonstrated computer literacy and ability to use health information systems.
