Justice Health & Forensic Mental Health Network is a state-wide Specialty Health Network delivering health care to adults and young people in contact with the forensic mental health and criminal justice systems across community, inpatient and custodial settings. The position will provide education, support and management in regards to antenatal care and postnatal care for women in custody.

  1. To facilitate culturally safe and appropriate antenatal care, postnatal care and referral pathways for pregnant women and their families.
  2. To work collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary health team in the planning, implementation, assessment and evaluation of care of women in custody.
  3. To ensure optimal outcomes for patients of the service through the promotion of best practise including the appropriate escalation of care.

  1. Current authority to practice as a Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  2. Extensive recent clinical experience in the provision of antenatal and postnatal midwifery services.
  3. Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise and negotiate with others to deliver quality midwifery care
  4. Demonstrated highly developed communication, time management, negotiation and report writing skills.
  5. Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  6. Current NSW Driver’s Licence (Class 1A or C) with a willingness and ability to travel to metropolitan and rural sites
  7. Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the values of the Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network
