The School of Psychiatry is widely reputed as the pre-eminent psychiatric research department in the country, and one of the leading university groups internationally. It is located at the UNSW teaching hospitals at various metropolitan sites in the Sydney region and in rural New South Wales.

The Research Officer will assist with the management and conduct of a research project coordinated by CHeBA and funded by the Dementia Australia Research Fund. The project aims to co-design and pilot a novel social skills intervention for people living with dementia or Mild Cognitive Impairment.

$88,782 plus 17% superannuation and leave loading pro rata

Fixed Term for 9 months from date of appointment.

Position is part time (0.5 FTE) at Level 6, Step 1

The position will provide clinical expertise and research assistance to research staff, including the contribution and application of knowledge in the field of dementia to research conducted within the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA).

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A tertiary recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy or Clinical Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology.
  • Tertiary postgraduate qualifications are desirable.


Skills
  • Ability to communicate with people living with dementia or Mild Cognitive Impairment
  • Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including MS Office, MS Teams, ZOOM.


Experience
  • Demonstrated high level of clinical experience and theoretical knowledge in the assessment and management of people living with dementia or Mild Cognitive Impairment.
  • Experience conducting group training/interventions.
