This is a great opportunity for a suitably experienced Registered Nurse to work in a newly created Clinical Nurse Consultant role - Specialised Dementia Care Program (SPCD)

  • Part time position 0.5 EFT – for fixed Term - 1 year

The Specialist Dementia care Program is a Commonwealth and State health department initiative to provide specialised care to people living with Behavioural and Psychological symptoms of Dementia (BPSD) with the aim to reduce or stabilise symptoms so that people can transition back to mainstream residential aged care

About the Role

The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) Specialist Dementia Care Program (SDCP) forms part of the multidisciplinary team and focuses on the health care of residents in residential aged care with BPSD. Working with the team to provide specialist support as a resource to improve the symptoms and experience of residents with Behavioural and Psychological symptoms of Dementia.

The CNC – SPCD aims to improve outcomes in resident care working directly with the staff members, residents, and their family/carer and indirectly through increasing the capacity of staff to recognise and attend to the people living with Behavioural and Psychological symptoms of Dementia (BPSD) 

In this role you will:

  • provide expert assessment and intervention;

  • provide education, support and guidance to staff

  • collaborate with them in developing a plans of care;

  • act as a positive role model demonstrating contemporary best practice in Dementia (BSPD) care

  • work with the team as a resource on SDCP related matters, education and development.

  • As a member of a multidisciplinary team you will actively consult with other staff members on specialist matters, in relation to client needs

If you have current AHPRA registration, with post graduate qualifications in Mental Health or Gerontology
