What you'll be doing

The Clinical Trials Registered Nurse will Co-ordinate and manage oncology clinical trials in the Cancer Therapy Centre. The Clinical Trials Registered Nurse is responsible for care of the patient undergoing clinical trials including education and coordination of patients, venepuncture and blood sampling. IV cannulation and accessing central venous access devices, administration medications including cytotoxics and Immunotherapies. To assist in data management and ethics submission. To provide a consultancy service to participating patients, their carers and the health professionals involved, maintaining effective communication and liaison with nursing, medical, pharmacy, laboratory staff, other hospitals and pharmaceutical companies. To ensure the clinical trial protocol adherence and maintain appropriate documentation.

How to Apply

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible.

  1. Extensive experience in chemotherapy delivery (preferably has experience in clinical trials, especially with Phase 1 Clinical Trials)
  2. Ability to perform cannulation and accredited to be able to access indwelling devices including central venous access devices for chemotherapy delivery
  3. Demonstrated recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an environment appropriate to the relevant specialty
  4. Demonstrated ability to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive
  5. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs
  6. Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise
  7. Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of evidenced based nursing care
  8. Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace
