About the Role
Provide a high quality occupational therapy service to patients/clients, consumers and carers, to ensure optimal health outcomes for the clients during a short term contract. Contracts will be offered to fill short term vacancies across NBMLHD OT services. The contracts offered will align to the occupational therapist’s clinical experience and skill set for optimal service and efficiency.

The Casual Pool Occupational Therapist contributes to the provision of flexible and consistent Occupational Therapy services in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. Casual pool clinicians are offered short term contracts across a variety of OT clinical areas to back fill temporary vacant positions or to meet periodic service demands. Contract locations may be located at either of the 3 hospital facilities at Nepean, Blue Mountains or Lithgow and the various Community Health Centres across the Local Health District.

The aim is to provide a high quality Occupational Therapy service to patients/clients, consumers and carers, to ensure optimal health outcomes for the clients during an OTs short term contract. Selection Criteria to be addressed:

  1. Registration to practice as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board, Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
  2. Demonstrated post qualification experience working as an Occupational Therapist providing clinical care in any of the following settings – inpatient, outpatients/ambulatory care, community health, paediatrics, mental health
  3. Ability to work independently as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team and provide clinical direction when working with Allied Health Assistants
  4. Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication with patients/clients/consumers, teams and agencies, with experience in clinical documentation and formal reporting
  5. Demonstrated ability to exercise independent professional judgement using skilled clinical reasoning and seek professional consult when performing novel, complex or critical tasks
  6. Demonstrated experience in the use of relevant evidence based practice to guide decision making
  7. Demonstrated high level of organisational skills, including ability to prioritise clinical activity
  8. Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
