What you'll be doing

This position entails working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide consultation liaison services to paediatric inpatients of the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, and to provide clinical services to inpatients and outpatients of the hospital. This involves comprehensive family and individual assessment, case formulation and treatment planning in a tertiary referral setting. It may involve referral and handover to rural and local treatment services, or involve ongoing treatment and complex case management. The clinician is expected to demonstrate knowledge of, and competence in providing assessment and treatment in a range of therapeutic modalities, specifically, systemic family therapy and cognitive behaviour therapy as a minimum. They will be involved in research projects - for example the dissemination of information—which are being run by the clinical team. In addition, the role includes the provision of clinical supervision to rural and remote clinicians via videoconferencing through the Child & Adolescent Psychological Telemedicine Outreach Service (CAPTOS).
 
 

Selection Criteria: 

  • Minimum 2 year full time equivalent accredited postgraduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology. Full registration with the AHPRA Psychology Board of Australia, with Clinical Psychology endorsement, or eligibility to progress to the same.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents and families with a range of presenting psychological difficulties.
  • Experience working with somatising disorders or chronic pain conditions and experience and interest in psychometric testing.
  • Experience in paediatric psychological assessment and therapy, specifically in cognitive behaviour therapy and systemic family therapy at a minimum.
  • The capacity to be able to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team led by a medical consultant.
  • Skills in teaching and the development of teaching material.
  • Experience in the provision of clinical supervision.
  • Demonstrated research and publication.
