About the Opportunity

Our community Palliative Care Volunteers dedicate two to three hours weekly to visit people who live at home with life limiting illness, and support their carers. In this rewarding management role (paid position), you will:

  • Lead the coordination of Community Specialist Palliative Care Volunteer Services in the Far West LHD
  • Join our friendly, multidisciplinary Specialist Palliative Care Team
  • Collaborate with the Health Service Manager (Dareton) and Director Cancer & Palliative Care Services to ensure that the planning, organisation and scheduling of volunteer services supports the facilitation of quality services
  • Support and empower our volunteers to provide exceptional care to our palliative care patients

About Dareton / Mildura

On the NSW side of the Murray River, Dareton is a beautiful rural town with a large Indigenous population. Just 20km from Mildura Victoria, many of our staff live in the booming regional hub of Mildura and travel the short 20-minute drive to work. Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated experience in, or in-depth understanding of palliative care principle, philosophy, and service provision, and the role of the volunteer in this setting.
  2. Previous work with volunteers and/ or knowledge and understanding of the scope of practice of volunteer services within a healthcare setting and the broader community.
  3. Demonstrated ability to provide education, training and supervision.
  4. Demonstrated effective interpersonal/communication skills, excellent written communication skills, computer skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  5. Demonstrated self-management, organisational and multi-tasking skills with attention to detail.
  6. Current driver’s license (Class C)
