Provide services in Medical Oncology for patients at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and affiliated centres, promote and participate in clinical Medical Oncology research activities, and participate in teaching.

About The Role

  • Suitable candidates may be offered a Con-Joint appointment with The Queensland Institute of Medical Research.
  • Maintain high standards of service in oncology.
  • Act as a fellow at Royal Brisbane Hospital (including the North Lakes campus) and provide services in Medical Oncology to inpatients and outpatients as directed by the Director of Medical Oncology in accord with the mission and goals of the Hospital.
  • Serve in one or more specialised clinics in the Division of Oncology and serve on multidisciplinary clinics and services as required by other disciplines for the management of cancer patients.
  • Perform general clinical duties.
  • Provide continuing care of patients and ensure medical cover during times of absence so that patient care is not compromised.
  • Participate in the afterhours roster to maintain continuity of care for patients as required.
  • Supervise Nursing Staff involved with administration of chemotherapy.
  • Interact with radiation oncologists and haematologists and generally with staff specialists at Royal Brisbane Hospital with regard to the care of cancer patients. Also with the medical profession beyond in relation to care of cancer patients that are referred and to the professors and staff of the University Medical School in regard to the teaching of students.
