JOB DESCRIPTION

About The Role

This role provides dietetic assessment and clinical intervention services for offenders with special dietary needs in Queensland correctional centres within the West Moreton Hospital and Health Service region.

About You

The successful candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated experience in dietetic/nutritional assessment and care.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide general dietetic advice to key stakeholders regarding service delivery and improvement opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, plan and evaluate local service improvement initiatives and provide supervision to nutrition and dietetic students, under the guidance of senior clinical staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a health care team, demonstrating a high level of communication skills, flexibility and a co-operative approach.
About Prison Health Services (PHS)

Prison Health Services (PHS) delivers a primary health care to detained, remanded and sentenced prisoners within the following correctional facilities located in the West Moreton Health catchment area:
  • Brisbane Correctional Centre (BCC);
  • Brisbane Women's Correctional Centre (BWCC);
  • Wolston Correctional Centre (WCC);
  • Borallon Training and Correctional Centre (BTCC)
  • Brisbane Youth Detention Centre (BYDC); and
  • Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre (As of June 2020)
  • Southern Queensland Correctional Centre (As of 1 July 2021)
PHS also provides some in-reach support services the Helena Jones Centre as an annexure of BWCC.

Dedicated teams are based in health clinics within each correctional facility. Service delivery is coordinated in close collaboration with Queensland Correctional Services under the specific regulations and routine of each individual correctional centre.

West Moreton Health is the custodian of medical records for the total prison population in Queensland.
