The role
We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Nurse to join our primary care team at HM Prison Langi Kal Kal to work with this vulnerable patient cohort within a recovery-based model. This is a Permanent Part Time Role (0.6FTE). HM Prison Langi Kal Kal is a minimum security prison farm located in Trawalla, near Beaufort. You will deliver a Nurse led model of care offering you significant autonomy and responsibility, in a safe and controlled environment. Working with this patient group is rewarding as the healthcare you provide can have a positive impact for a lifetime.

Shifts are from 7am to 7pm on weekdays and 7am - 1pm on weekends. You would need to be flexible to work on a 7 day a week rotating roster. 

Essential experience and attributes include the following (selection criteria):

  • Registered General Nurse qualification with a post graduate Mental Health qualification or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • A minimum of at least two years’ post graduate mental health nursing experience.
  • Recent nursing experience in a mental healthcare setting
  • Superior communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Proven experience dealing with complaints and incident management
  • Intermediate to advanced PC skills
  • Police check clearance
