  • St Andrew’s Hospital has provided medical and surgical services to South Australians for 84 years and is Australia’s largest standalone independent private hospital, recognised nationally as a centre of excellence. Building on our successful base, in 2018 we completed a $50 million upgrade and expansion of our clinical facilities with more improvements planned for 2021 and beyond.

    St Andrew’s is a 240-bed facility with eleven state of the art operating theatre suites, a 28 bed cardiac unit, an 18 bed critical care unit, emergency department, angiography suite, chest pain unit, an extensive new procedural suite with day of surgery admissions, and arguably, South Australia’s most comprehensive private cancer care facility.

    With over 40,000 procedures being performed each year we cater for most surgical specialties including, but not limited to, cardiothoracic, neurosurgery, vascular, urology, colorectal, orthopaedics, breast and gynaecology and the busiest Robotics unit (da Vinci) in Australia.

    About The Role

    Our Physiotherapy Assistants work in cooperation with the professional team and carry out the instructions of physiotherapists in collaboration with nursing staff, to achieve optimal rehabilitation outcomes for patients.

    Key Responsiblities Include

  • Providing assistance with ongoing post-operative patient education and the application of physiotherapy aids
  • Undertaking patient mobilisation and post-operative regimes in accordance with medical officer / physiotherapy protocols and hospital procedures
  • Working cooperatively with others at all times, including Nursing and Non Nursing departments
  • Ensuring that all equipment is stored safely and appropriately and is easy to access by all members of the health care team
  • Assisting with injury prevention risk assessments and recording actions in the clinical record using legible, timely, objective and concise documentation skills.
  • You will ideally have recent experience in a hospital rehabilitation setting with a Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or similar or be undertaking Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy university studies.

    A professional, helpful and friendly manner combined with a dedicated approach to delivering excellent customer service will all further add to your success in the role.

    Hours

    Permanent part-time (ideally 30 hours/fortnight) or casual employment can be considered. Work hours will be negotiated with the successful candidate with St Andrews’ offering early, late and night shifts rostered flexibly across a 14 day roster.
