The Position


Position Title: Social Worker (Grade 1)
Classification: YC35 - YC41
Salary per hour (exc. super): As per EBA
Hours per fortnight: Up to 80 (Full time or Part Time available)
Employment Status: Fixed Term


Key Responsibilities:


  • Strengthen and enhance the contribution of discipline specific skills, resources and experience available to patients of the service, their carers and other involved services and parties
  • Providing client focussed clinical services in co-operation with the multi-disciplinary team
  • Facilitating the smooth transition of clients through the health care system, liaising with relevant staff and community agencies to ensure continuity of care for individual patients/clients and their families

The Team

The Clinical Operations Division encompasses acute and mental health services. We provide a wide range of general medical, surgical and speciality services including; Oncology, Cardiology, Renal, Emergency, Women’s and Children’s, Critical Care, Specialist Clinics and Mental Health Services.

Bendigo Health’s Psychiatry Adult Inpatient Unit provides intensive therapeutic treatment during an acute phase of mental illness for persons 16 - 64 years. Services are provided by a multidisciplinary team, and patients are supported to find ways to manage their illness, and identify triggers and coping strategies that assist them in their recovery. Consisting of single room accommodation for 35 patients, the unit is made up of two distinct areas; the low dependency area (LDU) and the Intensive Care Area (ICA), utilised according to the patient’s clinical needs

Selection Criteria
Essential:
01.Degree in Social Work recognised by the AASW and eligibility for AASW national accreditation status


Essential:
02.Ability to satisfy the requirements of the Bendigo Health Allied Health Credentialing and Professional Standards document

Essential:
03.Well-developed verbal, written, interpersonal, communication and computer literacy skills and knowledge

Essential:
04.Ability to liaise and consult with relevant family members, team members and a broad range of health professionals and community agencies

Essential:
05.Demonstrated time management skills to manage a caseload, meet deadlines, maintain schedules, set goals/objectives, as required

Desirable:
06.Relevant clinical experience and skills in Rehabilitation and Recovery oriented service provision

Desirable:
07.Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2014 and other relevant legislation and their application to clinical practice

Desirable:
08.Evidence of a commitment to ongoing professional development, further post grad qualifications in related field and compliance with all Bendigo Health mandatory training requirements
