  • 32 Hours per week

The Royal Women’s Hospital is Australia’s first and largest specialist hospital dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of newborns and women of all ages. To join the Women’s is to be instrumental in forging progress towards health equity for women from ground-breaking research through to the bedside delivery of multi-disciplinary clinical care.

Creating exceptional experiences is at the heart of everything we do for our patients, their families, and our people across our specialised services within maternity, neonatal and women’s health.

The Women’s hospital offers treatment for all gynaecological conditions and is a tertiary referral centre for women with chronic pelvic pain, dysfunctional uterine bleeding and issues related to menopause, pelvic floor problems or other urogynaecological problems. Women with medical complications in the early part of pregnancy are cared for by the gynaecology units.

5 North (5N) is a 24 bed medical, surgical and palliative ward providing inpatient care specialising in Women’s Health, gynaeoncology and breast cancer. 5N also cares for women who are having a termination of pregnancy or who have complications related to reproductive biology such as IVF. We care for women requiring surgical, medical and palliative care for gynaecological cancers including ovarian, endometrial and cervical cancers.

The Complex Care unit (CCU) is adjacent to 5N and cares for women with complex medical and surgical nursing needs from cancer, gynaecology and maternity services. The service has a dedicated Clinical Nurse Coordinator responsible for the co-ordination of patient care, staff education and support and provision of an outreach consultation service within the hospital. 5N rosters staff into CCU.

The AUM’s primary responsibility is to the operational requirements of the inpatient ward (5N) and CCU, leading the delivery of efficient, effective and well planned care to women and their families. Working with the Unit Manager and as part of the leadership team you will provide day to day leadership and management of the 5N team ensuring a positive and professional working environment. The AUM is a role model in providing clinical expertise to women and their families within a multidisciplinary team environment. The AUM is rostered to be in charge of each shift to manage the service areas and to provide clinical supervision and care coordination to the inpatient service. You may have the opportunity to act for the Unit Manager of 5N and CCU as delegated during periods of their absence and support the Unit Manager to provide overall administrative and clinical management of the service.
