JOB DESCRIPTION

Melbourne Hand Surgery is a progressive medical practice that provides high quality hand and wrist surgery services from our rooms in Bridge Road, Richmond.

We are seeking a casual Medical Receptionist and Administrator for immediate start to replace a staff member who is moving interstate.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and efficient individual who relishes a fast paced work environment and is committed to working with us in the medium to long term. He or she will be responsible for maintaining our commitment to quality health care and customer service and dealing with patients in person, by phone and by email. He or she will assist the surgeon by performing administrative and personal assistant tasks necessary for the smooth functioning of a surgical practice.

We require a team player who is dependable and has a friendly "can do" attitude. A caring, adaptable and organised nature is a must. Attention to detail is crucial, as is strong follow through on tasks. There is no weekend work and no audio typing. Computer skills are essential; we use Genie for practice management as well as Microsoft Office, Adobe, Facebook and more (including telehealth/videoconsulting using the Doxy.me platform).

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Administration of the front desk and patient clinics including “meet and greet”, answering phones, taking patient payments and responding to email enquiries
  • Secretarial and personal assistant support to the Practice Principal
  • Scheduling patient consultations
  • Invoicing and receipting
  • Co-ordinating operating theatre lists
  • Liaising with other doctors, hospitals and medical representatives
  • Additional duties as required by the Practice Principal


Selection Criteria
  • Previous reception experience in any industry would be highly regarded
  • Professional & personable telephone manner
  • Proven exceptional customer service skills
  • Proficient PC computer skills – knowledge of Genie an advantage; must be able to use Windows and Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Demonstrated initiative, time-management & flexibility
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Professional in appearance
  • Attention to detail
