About the role

An exciting opportunity now exists for a Staff Specialist - Rheumatology to join Mater Health on a permanent part-time basis. The position being offered will be working 28-30 hours per fortnight, commencing 2nd August 2021.

As a Staff Specialist you will be managing outpatients and some inpatients at Mater Hospital Brisbane. The role involves supervision of junior doctors including basic physician trainees. You will take part in departmental professional development activities and education sessions.

Salary range: Commensurate with experience

What you’ll be doing

Responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to):

Oversee the management of new and existing rheumatology outpatient s, including management of biologic applications.
You will be required to participate in the inpatient consult service, including leave cover
Assist with education, supervision and training of junior doctors, medical students and other health professionals.
Work collaboratively with the other Rheumatology Consultants and report to the Director of Medicine

About you

To be considered for this role, the successful applicant must:

Be a Consultant Rheumatologist with current specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia and fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP)
Have the ability to manage complex rheumatological disorders
Have an excellent knowledge base and good clinical skills
Manage patients with compassion
Have excellent communication skills and work co-operatively within a team
Demonstrate an interest in teaching
Participate in the inpatient consultation service as required
