What you'll be doing

The primary role of the Health Economist is to support strategic business innovation and development, through consideration of the District’s resource implications, population health demand drivers, supply capacity, and with respect to economic and clinical evidence of health programs, technology, and models of care. The Health Economist will undertake a broad range of economic impact assessments to evaluate the economic and resource implications for various initiatives in SWSLHD. Working closely with various stakeholders the incumbent will work to develop and strengthen local capacity to develop economic evidence for setting priorities.

How to Apply

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible.

  1. A degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience or a combination of work and study experience
  2. Demonstrated data management skills (data collection, entry, analysis, reporting and validation)
  3. Highly developed analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and communicate it to clinical and non-clinical stakeholders
  4. Demonstrated problem solving, analytical, research and program evaluation skills
  5. Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills
  6. Experience in the design and evaluation of scientific, health economics & outcomes research materials
  7. Advanced Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word,) skills
  8. Detailed, practical knowledge of one or more of key statistical packages such as SAS, STATA, SPSS or equivalent programs and/or demonstrate evidence of a capacity to master these programs with further training.
