Purpose of the Position:

Northern Sydney Local Health District has COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics established at Mona Vale Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital and Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital. The Clinics provide urgent immunisation for COVID-19 frontline health care workers, aged care staff and others at higher risk of contracting COVID-19.

The position holder will hold registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist General Practitioner. The primary purpose of their role in the COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic is to provide high quality medical assessment of people presenting to the Vaccination Clinic to ensure they are medically fit, and to obtain informed consent for vaccination. They will also provide medical support to the Observation area that monitors people in the immediate post-vaccination period.

This position is temporary with the possibility of temporary extension based on performance, funding and need

Selection Criteria

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) or Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) and/or other equivalent specialist recognition and recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  3. Demonstrated ability and experience in delivery of immunisations in larger community settings or in the General Practice environment.
  4. Demonstrated effective communication skills (written and verbal), clinical skills, judgment and expertise, teamwork, time management and problem solving skills in a clinical setting.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  6. Evidence of the following attributes: ability to work under pressure; ability to work effectively as part of a team; ability to be flexible, organized and autonomous.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and professional development, including evidence of participation in continuing medical education and continuing professional development.
