About The Role

The purpose of this role is to deliver counselling services within MSPCS to clients and their families pre and post death. This includes:

  • Detailed clinical assessment, patient education, therapeutic intervention and/or management and assistance with discharge planning within a multi-disciplinary context.
  • Clinical education, supervision of observational students and allied health assistants, and assistance with supervision of undergraduate students.
  • Participation and contribution to quality improvement and research activities under the guidance of senior staff.

MSPCS provides specialist palliative care services utilising Palliative Care Australia's population-based model of care. MSPCS provides consultative, shared and/or direct care for patients in all hospitals in Metro South Health Hospital and Health Service (MSH HHS) including QEII, PAH, Redland and Logan Hospitals as well as Canossa Private Hospital and Wynnum Manly Palliative Care unit at Wynnum Manly Blue Care Residential Aged Care Facility. As well as providing community-based (including RACFs) specialist palliative care across the health service. Community services are based at Brisbane South, Redland and Logan. The MSPCS team is an interdisciplinary group of healthcare professionals who deliver collaborative patient-centred care in partnership with acute, domiciliary, aged health care providers and general practitioners.
