Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH) is the major provider of specialist health services in the Gippsland region, east of Melbourne.  Our comprehensive range of services extends to emergency and intensive care, elective surgery, allied health, obstetrics, medical and radiation oncology at the Gippsland Cancer Care Centre, dialysis and aged care.

LRH has a number of outstanding facilities following a recent expansion. These include a cardiac catheterisation laboratory, large Emergency Department, endoscopy suites and modern and contemporary inpatient units. These complement extensive Allied Health amenities including a gym and pool.

LRH is the regional provider of mental health services in Gippsland. LRH Mental Health Service operates an integrated specialist mental health program across the region and provides inpatient and community mental health care for adults, children and young people and older persons.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and suitably qualified Registered Nurse to join the Chemotherapyteam at Latrobe Regional Hospital on a Fixed Term basis until August 2022 for 88 hours per fortnight.

Reporting to the Chemotherapy Nurse Unit Manager the successful applicant will play an important role in delivering cancer care of patients diagnosed with malignancies. The Chemotherapy Day Unit also encompasses a wide variety of medical infusions and procedures, including but not limited to infusional treatment for Crohns disease, Multiple sclerosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis. Medical procedures include abdominal paracentesis, bone marrow biopsies, venesections and intravesical treatments.

The successful applicant will be required to:

  1. Demonstrate a high level of competence in cancer care nursing.

  2. Provide high level care co-ordination of patients with a malignancy.

  3. Demonstrate a high level professional engagement and communication skills with a number of clinicians in a multidisciplinary team

  4. A commitment to the National Standards and compliance with the ACQSHC National standards

  5. Sound clinical assessment, decision making and problem solving skills

  6. Works well independently and within a team

  7. Good computer skills

  8. Be flexible and adaptable

  9. A commitment to professional development for yourself and others.

The successful applicant will require:

 1. Current registration with AHPRA, Registered Nurse, with at least 1 years’ experience in Oncology and Haematology Nursing

2. Relevant experience demonstrating the appropriate competencies and skills for antineoplastic administration and management

3. Completion of the Antineoplastic Drug Administration Course or Equivalent

4. Current and satisfactory Working with Children Check (where relevant) as per Working with Children Act 2005

5. Current and satisfactory Police Check (must comply with Aged Care Act 1997 Accountability Amendment Principles 2012 if working in Aged Care settings)
