Monash Health Mental Health Services provides a range of community, bed-based and specialist services covering the Casey, Cardinia, Greater Dandenong, Kingston and Monash local government areas – a population of nearly one million.

 The Casey Area Mental Health Service is led by an innovative and supportive leadership team seeking to provide an innovative and recovery based model of mental health care that will continue to develop with our growing community in the South East growth corridor. Teams are based in both inpatient and community sites offering collaborative care to clients experiencing mental health difficulties within our area.

About the Role

In July 2017, the Victorian Police Electronic Referral (VPeR) commenced as part of the Psychiatric Triage Service. VPeR is an initiative between The Department of Health, Monash Health and the Victorian Police, to provide a response to non-urgent Mental Health referrals state wide within 5 days. The purpose of the initiative is to provide early intervention and increase client accessibility to Mental Health Services across the State of Victoria. The client will need have had contact with the police and their primary issue needs to be of a non-urgent mental health nature. Client needs to consent to the referral, live within the State of Victoria and can be of any age. VPeR is not appropriate for people with apparent mental illness who are in crisis. This position will contribute to data collection.

This full and part time position is open to Registered Nurses, Social Workers and Occupational therapist with a working history in Mental Health. The senior clinician will provide high quality information to screen and advise people who have been referred to VPeR how to access relevant support services. They will provide this service in an informative, helpful, efficient and appropriate manner and ensure data entry and record keeping is accurate and entered in a timely fashion. The senior clinician will also ensure that procedures for VPeR are reviewed regularly, provide training for less experienced staff and provide feedback to Victoria Police at VPeR Liaison meetings.
