JOB DESCRIPTION

Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH) is the major provider of specialist health services in the Gippsland region, east of Melbourne. Our comprehensive range of services extends to emergency and intensive care, elective surgery, allied health, obstetrics, medical and radiation oncology at the Gippsland Cancer Care Centre, dialysis and aged care.


LRH has a number of outstanding facilities following a recent expansion. These include a cardiac catheterisation laboratory, large Emergency Department, endoscopy suites and modern and contemporary inpatient units. These complement extensive Allied Health amenities including a gym and pool. LRH is the regional provider of mental health services in Gippsland. LRH Mental Health Service operates an integrated specialist mental health program across the region and provides inpatient and community mental health care for adults, children and young people and older persons. Gippsland provides a fantastic regional lifestyle with easy access to Melbourne.


An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced and suitably qualified Team Leaders to join the Gippsland Region Public Health Unit (GRPHU) on a Fixed Term basis. Full time / Part-time positions will be considered.


GRPHU is a local public health unit covering the Gippsland Populations Cluster and is part of a state-wide restructure of public health delivery in Victoria.


Reporting to the Operations Manager the successful applicant will play an important role in supporting the establishment and strategic operations of the Gippsland Region Public Health Unit based at Latrobe Regional Hospital.


The successful applicant will be required to:


- Provide operational oversight to the GRPHU through intelligence gathering and procedural guidance.


- Provide leadership, develop and maintain strong, cohesive working relationships across all levels of health services, government and the health and human sectors, including non-government organisations and community members


- Participate and support the development of requisite trainings, regular program meetings, and quality monitoring improvement activities in order to ensure and enhance the quality of case investigation activities and program outcomes


 To be successful in this position you will need to have:


- Effective communication: including in crisis-situations, with ability to explain public health risks in a way that is understood by diverse audiences. Deals well with difficult and sensitive topics and questions


- High Level Decision Making: A high level ability to make decisions, sometimes with incomplete information, in a rapid time frame where required


- an ability to be flexible and adaptable
