JOB DESCRIPTION

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner (Generalist)/ The Trainee Aboriginal Clinical Health Worker or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner (Generalist) will work within the community and hospital setting to support and embed a stronger and more sustainable approach to support of Aboriginal people in the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) catchment area through providing an ‘Aboriginal lens' to health care and delivering culturally safe care.

The ATSI Health Practitioner is responsible to and will work with the Podiatry Project Lead to support the development of a planned approach to engage with Aboriginal people and the community as outlined in the project briefing. The role will work collaboratively with the General Practitioners in the southern area, clinical staff, allied health staff and other service providers/agencies and actively contributing and providing support to team members on culturally appropriate clinical interventions..

This position is exempted from the provisions of Sections 52(1) and 103 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 pursuant to an order of the Equal Opportunity Tribunal, therefore allowing Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people to be preferred for appointment to this position.

To be successful it is essential that you meet the minimum requirements of the role outlined in the Role Description.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check.
