JOB DESCRIPTION

The purpose of Student Support Services (SSS) is to assist children and young people facing a range of barriers to learning to achieve their educational and developmental potential through the provision of a range of strategies and specialised support at individual, group, school and Area levels.

An exciting opportunity exists for an energetic, self-motivated, experienced Speech Pathologist to join the Student Support Services (SSS) workforce to provide comprehensive speech pathology services to schools and students in the Outer Gippsland Area. In this role you will provide high-level professional advice to schools and the SSS team that strongly influences student learning outcomes and wellbeing policies within a school community and wider Area.

SSS staff work collaboratively with schools, students and parents to facilitate improved emotional health and wellbeing for students. As a SSS Speech Pathologist, you will demonstrate leadership as part of a multidisciplinary Area-based team to build the capabilities of schools to support children and young people to engage in their education. The multidisciplinary Area-based team consist of a broad range of Allied Health professionals including psychologists, speech pathologists, and social workers. 

Other key components of the role include the autonomous provision of professional services including comprehensive assessment and report writing along with advanced therapeutic interventions. 

Required: A graduate or post-graduate degree in Speech Pathology and eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia
