Griffith Base Hospital is a 119 bed facility with 100 hospital care beds and 10 maternity beds. Each year we support approximately 19,500 emergency presentations, 2,500 operations and 600 births. We provide a 24 hour Emergency Department (ED) with 15 ED spaces supported by an Intensive Care Unit and is also equipped with telehealth cameras to connect the team in Griffith with specialists across the NSW Critical Care Advisory Service

About the Opportunity

Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 (CNS2) and Clinical Midwife Specialist Grade 2 (CMS2) are crucial members of the Murrumbidgee Local Health District Nursing and Midwifery Workforce. The CNS2/CMS2 is responsible for the provision of high level patient centred, evidence-based clinical nursing care and is expected to embrace and lead a practice development philosophy in the delivery of that care.

The CNS/CMS2 encompasses the core criteria of the CNS/CMS1 with additional characteristics of; exercises extended autonomy of decision making and exercises professional knowledge and judgement in providing complex care requiring advanced clinical skills. This outcome is achieved through undertaking comprehensive nursing/midwifery assessments, providing expert consultation and educational support to staff, patients and family in the designated area of clinical practice. The CNS/CMS2 is responsible for evaluation and supervision in the provision of complex nursing/midwifery care directed towards patients/women within the designated area of clinical practice.

The CNS/CMS2 will demonstrate the ability to act as a professional role model, delivering a high level capacity for patient advocacy and cost benefit practice while demonstrating the ability to act as a change agent, provide effective clinical leadership and the ability to practice as an autonomous professional with the capacity to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
