Justice Health & Forensic Mental Health Network is a state-wide Specialty Health Network delivering health care to adults and young people in contact with the forensic mental health and criminal justice systems across community, inpatient and custodial settings. The position provides expert clinical consultancy services to nursing staff and young people within Youth Justice Centres and the Adolescent Health service. Identify and adopt innovative clinical practice models to improve the health of young people. Facilitate implementation of best practice nursing care and youth health service within a diverse and changing environment. Contributing to the development and management of clinical processes, e.g. Care Maps, Clinical Pathway, Clinical Algorithms and Models of Care. Providing clinical leadership in the ongoing review of clinical practice at facility and or Network health service level as required. Providing leadership in state, national and/or international nursing bodies.

  1. Current authority to practice as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. Current NSW Drivers licence.
  2. At least five years fulltime equivalent post graduate experience and with at least three years fulltime equivalent experience in an adolescent/youth health clinical specialty.
  3. Post graduate qualifications in adolescent health.
  4. Proven advanced analytical skills and the ability to provide expert advice to staff and patients regarding the assessment and management of young people with youth health issues.
  5. Demonstrated effective education and practice development skills with staff and patients, involving superior interpersonal organisational, and communication skills.
  6. Proven ability to initiate, implement and evaluate relevant research and quality improvement projects.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a team and demonstrated advanced computer skills and ability to use health related information technology systems.
  8. Commitment to the values of the Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network.
