Position Overview
Canberra Health Services (CHS) is focussed on the delivery of high quality, effective, person centred care. It provides acute, sub-acute, primary and community‐based health services, to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and surrounding region. Physiotherapy within Acute Allied Health Services (AAHS) provides services to a range of clients in acute inpatient and specialised outpatient settings predominately at Canberra Hospital Our physiotherapists work closely with patients, carers, referrers, other health care professionals and multidisciplinary teams to achieve safe, timely, high quality patient care.

Under the operational management of the Physiotherapy Manager the Physiotherapy Clinical Educator will play a key role in delivering high quality patient centred services through teaching, training and education of staff and students and associated functions to support clinical service delivery. Day to day support, clinical supervision, and professional development is provided through the manager, senior leadership team and educator peers, formal clinical supervision arrangements, and informal and formal professional development opportunities.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:Mandatory:
  • Be registered or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent in Physiotherapy.
  • Minimum of five years clinical experience working professionally in physiotherapy.
  • Current driver’s licence.
Other
  • The successful applicant may be required to participate in restricted on-call and/or overtime roster.
  • Have an understanding of how the National Standards and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.
  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role as detailed in the CHS Exceptional Care Framework, Clinical Governance Framework, Partnering With Consumers Framework and all other related frameworks.
Prior to commencement successful candidates will be required to:
  • Comply with CHS credentialing and scope of clinical practice requirements for allied health professionals, and
  • Obtain a Compliance Certificate from OMU (Occupational Medicine Unit) relating to assessment, screening and vaccination processes against specified infectious diseases.
  • Undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
Duties:
Under limited direction of the AAHS Physiotherapy you will perform the following duties as the Physiotherapy Clinical Educator. You will:
  • Provide specialised clinical expertise and interventions across a range of clinical areas.
  • Provide professional supervision and clinical leadership for staff and/or students within Physiotherapy in consultation with senior management and the professional lead.
  • Contribute to policy development, quality improvement, service review and development initiatives, and organisation accreditation.
  • Consult and liaise with external agencies and relevant educational institutions as required to support clinical teaching, curriculum development and research.
  • Actively support teaching and training activity within the profession and across programs and services.
  • Promote professional research and contribute to advances within the profession
  • Participate in clinical supervision, credentialing, continuing professional development and performance management.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.
What You Require:
These are the key Selection Criteria for how you will be assessed in conjunction with your curriculum vitae and experience:
1.Proven extensive experience in providing high standard of physiotherapy service for clients within a variety of acute care settings and the ability to promote and demonstrate best practice through the integration of evidence into clinical practice.
2.Demonstrated extensive experience in clinical education of students and staff including the coordination of student placements and education/training programs.
3.Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability of establish and maintain relationships with internal and external service provides and stakeholders.
4.Proven ability in clinical governance systems to ensure delivery of services are safe, effective, high quality and continuously improving.
5.Demonstrates understanding of, and adherence to, safety and quality standards, Work, Health and Safety (WHS) and the positive patient experience. Displays behaviour consistent with CHS’s values of reliable, progressive, respectful and kind.
