About the Client
The Cancer, Hearing and Program Support Division is the central coordination point for cancer matters in the department, including delivering best practice cancer care initiatives, and managing Australia’s population-based cancer screening programs and services, including evidence-based policy. The Division is also responsible for the establishment and management of the National Cancer Screening Register; administering the Australian Government Hearing Services Program, the National Continence Program, the Continence Aids Payment Scheme and the Commonwealth Continuity of Support (CoS) Programme.

The Cancer Policy and Services Branch is responsible for:
provision of advice on cancer policy;
management of a number of targeted cancer screening programs;
management of a number of programs that deliver best practice cancer services;
monitoring and responding to emerging cancer control, treatment and screening issues and technologies; and
coordination of cancer policy matters across the Department.
The Cancer Policy and Services Branch consists of three sections:

Cancer Services;
Screening Policy; and
Cervical Screening.
The Cervical Screening Section is responsible for the National Cervical Screening Program (NCSP), which was renewed on 1 December 2017, involving significant changes to the primary screening test, reform of the health workforce and establishment of new clinical processes, guidelines and regulatory standards. The section provides national program management, oversight monitoring of the performance and safety and quality of the program, as well as undertaking horizon scanning and development of policy to continuously improve the NCSP.
