Specialist Cardiac Physiologist

We are looking for an energetic, efficient and professional individual for the role of Specialist Cardiac Physiologist. The primary purpose of the role is to provide mentoring to a team of Cardiac Physiologists to assist with the delivery of a high quality, accurate and efficient technical service that meets professional and company standards. This role has a focus on absolute commitment to the delivery of professional clinical services to patients, referrers and doctors whilst maintaining and achieving quality, cost and productivity targets for the business.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide support to staff completing cardiac ultrasound training.
  • Manage patients and operate cardiac ultrasound and testing equipment in accordance with professional standards, to obtain the appropriate and optimal cardiac images and information to support medical diagnosis by a Cardiologist and subsequent management of pathological findings
  • Act as a coach and mentor and support the Lead Cardiac Physiologist when it comes to the development of your team.
  • Receive and correctly interpret requests from referrers for cardiac procedures to be performed on patients
  • Correctly identify all patients in accordance with company/professional protocols
  • Investigate patient medical history and details of previous relevant reports
  • Document patient’s condition, with emphasis on the characteristics, location and extent of any pathology, when present
  • Consistently deliver high levels of patient care and customer service and demonstrate a strong commitment to building patient and referrer satisfaction and loyalty
  • Greet and farewell patients in a caring, friendly and professional manner
  • Anticipate and respond immediately to all patient, carer and referrer enquiries, address their needs as a priority, and ensure follow-up as required
  • Build strong and cooperative relationships with referrers, and in particular regarding their urgent/complex requests and requirements
  • Explain procedures and provide instructions to patients in clear, simple, accurate and concise terms, ensuring understanding and that any questions or concerns are addressed
  • Work closely with managers, Cardiologists and all staff to ensure a duty of care is provided to all patients, to promote and maintain quality standards within each clinic, and provide a safe working environment for all staff, patients and visitors
  • Ensure all work is delivered in accordance with industry quality management standards, laws and regulations, company operational and administration management systems, policies and procedures. and clinical procedures and protocols

  • Take a partnering approach with managers and stakeholders Registration with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR)
  • Hold a current relevant echocardiography professional registration and/or license as appropriate
  • Current Basic Life Support / CPR Certificate preferred
  • Demonstrated command of echocardiography techniques employed to image various organs to the accepted industry standards or above
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the physical principles and technology of diagnostic echocardiography
  • Experience in delivering patient care and customer service
  • Demonstrated skills in using medical software technology
