  • One day a week - Thursday
  • 16 hours / fortnight

    Australian Nursing Home Foundation (ANHF) is one of the largest Chinese aged care organisations in Australia. ANHF is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation founded with a vision to support and care for the elderly in Chinese and Southeast Asian community.

    About the role

    To provide high quality programs/activities and meaningful engagement for frail elderly Chinese and Vietnamese people, people living with dementia or other chronic conditions; and to support their carers and the relationship between the client and carer.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Assist Coordinator in program /activity planning and preparation, within budgetary constraints, to ensure the needs of clients and their carers are met.
    • Implement program/activities effectively and efficiently in accordance with the daily schedule.
    • Assist clients with toileting and personal hygiene; meal preparation and encouragement/assistance with eating and drinking; and with safe transfers and mobilising.
    • Assist clients and carers to provide feedback about service delivery, including ad hoc using feedback forms and planned such as through satisfaction surveys.
    • Contribute to continuous quality improvement generally, including identifying opportunities for improvement, reporting them to the Coordinator and actioning them as agreed.
    • Maintain effective communication with consumers, carers, colleagues and volunteers. This includes providing mentoring, support and supervision to colleagues and volunteers as delegated.
    • Provide high quality customer service internally and externally.

    Qualifications and Skills

    About the Successful Applicant

    Essential:

    • Motivation and commitment to caring for the elderly
    • Certificate III in Individual Support/Aged Care or Certificate IV in Leisure & Health
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in aged or community based services working with older people providing lifestyle services, personal care and/or other support services
    • Evidence of good communication skills, including fluency in written and spoken Vietnamese and basic skills in written and spoken English
    • Evidence of a good team building, interpersonal and communication skills
    • Demonstrated knowledge and application of WH&S, EEO and anti-discrimination legislative requirements
    • First Aid Certificate
    • Australian Citizenship / Permanent Residency
    • National Police Clearance 

    Desirable:

    • Current full driver licence
    • Experience in dementia care or respite care
    • Training and experience in providing medication assistance
    • Experience working in community based settings
    • Experience working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse populations.
    • Basic skills in written and spoken Chinese is a bonus
