This position is responsible for the initial Access and Engagement assessment of headspace Maryborough and Hervey Bay clients. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the Access and Engagement Officer will be a pivotal role within headspace the team. This role will be responsible for conducting initial screening using the 'headspace psychosocial assessments for young people' and determining appropriate pathways and referrals.

The role will also be responsible for the referral of young people attending the service through the Case Coordination process held with the Centre Manager and as required other Private Practitioners. Other activities may include directly arranging access; providing brief psychosocial interventions, reducing barriers to obtaining services; establishing linkages; and other activities recorded in progress notes.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Monitor and conduct client focused psychosocial assessments on all new headspace Hervey Bay and Maryborough clients to ascertain social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • Deliver evidence based brief interventions, including group interventions and problem solving, with young people and their families.
  • Assist and provide appropriate and timely referrals for a range of treatments and services within headspace Hervey Bay and Maryborough through Private Practitioners, In-Kind support and other key agencies.
  • Develop, maintain and monitor client records including minimum data sets.
  • Ensure appropriate and timely liaison with salaried staff, private practitioners and external agencies to support young people.
  • Promote and adhere to youth friendly practice principles.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities provided by headspace National Office and Wesley Mission Queensland.
  • Attend Case Allocation meetings, clinical review meetings and complex case review meetings as directed by the Clinical Lead and/or Centre Manager
  • Maintain client privacy and confidentiality and adhere to duty of care requirements and other relevant legislation.
  • Adhere to appropriate standards of safety, welfare and health care for staff and young people within the headspace Hervey Bay Maryborough services.
  • Comply with continuous clinical quality improvement activities to improve the service provision and outcomes for young people who access headspace Hervey Bay and Maryborough.
  • Ensure services are provided within the boundaries of the relevant Association's Code of Ethics.
  • Work in accordance with the electronic clinical record and associated information recording
