About Mental Health At St Vincent’s

St. Vincent’s Mental Health (SVMH) includes an adult area mental health service for the inner city areas of Yarra and Boroondara. Multidisciplinary teams provide a range of clinical and therapeutic interventions using the recovery-focused Strengths Model of Recovery-Orientated Practice.

About The Role

You will provide a high standard of clinical assessment, treatment and support to clients (and their families) who are experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Based in St Vincent’s Emergency Department, you will lead the team in providing comprehensive face to face assessments, including mental state assessment, risk assessment and planning appropriate crisis interventions.

Classifications for this position will range from Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 4 NP75 - NP77 ($98,800 - $109,200 per annum pro rata)

  • Provide expert advice, education and liaison to the Police, General Practitioners and staff within the Emergency Department
  • Make appropriate referrals and provide advocacy for consumers accessing community services
  • Provide clinical support and consultation to consumers other clinicians
  • Ensure least restrictive practice is the standard approach and consumers rights are protected
Qualifications, Skills And Experience
  • Certificate, Diploma or Degree (minimum) in Nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, Division 1 or 3.
  • Minimum of 5 years post qualification clinical experience within Mental Health Services.
  • Knowledge and ability to provide Psychiatric Triage services.
  • A current Victorian driver’s licence.
