What you'll be doing
To accurately assign morbidity and procedural classifications to inpatient episodes using ICD-10-AM and the Australian Classification of Health Interventions (ACHI) in accordance with the Australian Coding Standards and NSW Health data reporting requirements, ensuring accuracy for quality data collection and appropriate DRG allocation.

Selection criteria

  • Completion of a Clinical Coder Course (HIMAA or OTEN) or the equivalent in clinical coding experience in an acute care hospital.
  • Demonstrated recent experience and ability to accurately assign ICD-10-AM/ACHI codes and DRGs to all speciality inpatient episodes in an acute care hospital.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage a heavy workload effectively to meet productivity targets and data submission deadlines.
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of ABF and NSW (or other state) Inpatient Statistical Data reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated commitment to undertaking and participating in ongoing education in relation to clinical science, clinical coding and Activity Based Funding.
  • Ability to work harmoniously within a team environment through the demonstrated use of excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid drivers licence for use in NSW/Australia and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
