Our client provides progressive, integrated support programs across the country for ex-serving Australian Defence Force members who have been impacted as a result of their service, and their families.

The Role

An exciting opportunity exists to be part of a newly created team in Darwin.

The Accredited Mental Health Social Worker plays an integral triage and support role for the support and rehabilitation to current and ex-serving Australian Defence Force members who have been impacted as a result of their service, and their families.

This is a permanent opportunity with the option of full time or part time (0.8 FTE).

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide psychological assessment with clients which may include children, young people and families. This includes individual therapies and a range of group therapies
  • Design, evaluate and implement personalised and tailored evidence-based therapies for clients to support their healing
  • Contribute to the design, development and evaluation of mental health and psychological programs and services
  • Provide clinical supervision, peer supervision and debriefing to staff as required
  • Complete detailed case notes and actively participate in staff meetings

To Be Successful

  • Bachelor Degree in Social Work or equivalent and / or a qualifying Masters Degree
  • AASW membership
  • Accredited as a Mental Health Social Worker; Registered with Medicare and DVA as a Mental Health Social Worker or eligibility to be registered
  • Demonstrated experience in the treatment and management of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement treatment and recovery plans for both individuals and families
  • Capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrate accountability and proficiency in clinical report writing
  • Experience and /or knowledge of experiential therapies and the development of psychological programs


  • Direct experience in delivering Psychological or related services to current or past serving Defence personnel and their families
  • Demonstrated clinical skills in delivering evidence-based treatment to people across the lifespan presenting with a wide variety or presentations

Salary and Benefits

Salary is paid at $90,000 pa + super + salary packaging.
