Senior Mental Health Clinician




  • Looking for suitable and experienced mental health clinicians for a case management role

  • Fixed Term Full Time Mon- Fri 0830-1700 (includes ADOs per month!) till 22nd May 2022

  • Based in Northern Areas Mental Health Service’s Noogal Clinic, Mill Park

  • New infrastructure across the Northern suburbs is driving fresh developments and revolutionary program delivery that, in turn, is generating opportunities for career advancement and specialist skill growth

  • NAMHS delivers a range of acute and community psychiatric services to people residing in the local government areas of Darebin and Whittlesea. We deliver specialist clinical programs across Adult Community Services, Adult Acute Inpatient Service, EMH (including PACER) and Consultation and Liaison Psychiatry Service at the Northern Hospital, Community Care Unit, and Prevention and Recovery Care Service (PARC)

Your success in this role, will be in your ability to



  • Provide excellent leadership and to use advanced clinical knowledge to enhance the treatment and care of consumers on Clozapine, including those in shared care arrangements with general practitioners, and assist in a range of initiatives to improve the physical health of consumers.

  • Direct supervision and delegation of tasks to a PSEN aligned to the Clozapine and Physical Health Care Program

  • Comprehensive physical health assessment and metabolic monitoring of clients on clozapine

  • Provision of intensive community based interventions and outreach support as clinically indicated to consumers and their families

  • Work collaboratively with consumers, families, carers and other service providers including GP’s and NDIS service providers

  • Provide discipline specific evidence based practice and appropriate treatment options as required


Your Contribution



  • Obtain formal Qualifications and required Registrations

  • Comply with all legal requirements pertaining to the position including responsibility for maintaining current registration as required by your professional organisation or other applicable Acts

  • Extensive experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of severe mental illness and psychiatric disability

  • Capacity to undertake alcohol and other drug screening, assessment, treatment planning, brief interventions with consumers who have co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with consumers, families/carers, colleagues and other service providers

  • Ability to work with consumers, family and carers from a range of cultural backgrounds, and to provide gender sensitive services
