We are currently searching for an experienced and passionate Senior Speech Pathologist to join an established Therapy services provider in Victoria.
You would be working within an established multidisciplinary team. Thesuccessful candidate will fit the criteria providing a variety of valuable services across the lifespan in the community and clinic.

*Minimum 1-2 years experience as a practicing Speech Pathologist, willing to consider applicants that have not had previous senior experience

The Role: 

  • Managing Speech Pathology team, monitoring performances of team, implementing new strategies for team to overcome hurdles if any
  • Allocating roles and jobs to team members
  • Performing patient assessments and developing individual treatment plans
  • Liaising with teachers, family members, and other healthcare professionals
  • Administering therapy and monitoring progress, and ensuring patients and their families are informed of new treatments and therapy techniques
  • You should be able to work with patients from different backgrounds and be willing to make house calls. You should also be able to travel in your own vehicle

Tasks and Responsibilities: 

  • Assessing, diagnosing, screening, and preventing language, speech, and swallowing disorders
  • Communicating with the patient, and liaising with their family members, physicians, and teachers to design effective treatment plans
  • Using tried and tested therapies in combination with new, innovative communicating techniques to provide the best care
  • Keeping up-to-date with advancements in the field by attending conferences, conducting research, and expanding professional and academic networks
  • Educating patients and their families on speech disorders and available therapies
  • Taking detailed notes on patient history and progress
  • Evaluating patient progress and implementing changes to therapy programs as required
  • Traveling to clinic, client's home and Telehealth to provide therapy

As an experienced professional you will demonstrate the following:

  • Bachelors or Master's degree in Speech Therapy or Speech-language Pathology
  • Relevant license and certification from SPA
  • Sound understanding of speech-related disorders and treatments such as sign language
  • Understanding of swallowing disorders and treatments
  • Excellent relationship-building skills
  • Willingness to travel to client's home setting
