The physiotherapy team at Monash Children’s Hospital provides physiotherapy services to neonates, infants, children, adolescents and young adults, across a wide spectrum of clinical areas including neurology, respiratory, general paediatrics and orthopaedics.

A Bit about this Role


As the Grade 4 clinical specialist you will deliver advanced practice clinical services in the specialist consulting clinics at Monash Children’s Hospital. You will work directly with Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeons and Registrars, Paediatric Diagnostic Imaging team members including Sonographers, Paediatric Orthopaedic Case Manager, and the paediatric orthopaedic multidisciplinary team. Your clinical caseload will include running daily Paediatric Orthopaedic Assessment Clinics.


As the Grade 4 clinical specialist in Paediatric Orthopaedics, you will be responsible for fostering excellence in service provision by leading the clinical team and service within the Monash Children’s Hospital Physiotherapy Team. You will provide extensive specialist clinical knowledge in the fields of the Paediatric Orthopaedics. You will deliver predominantly outpatient services to children and families across the age spectrum. You will consult and assist with the care of inpatients with complex paediatric orthopaedic conditions.


You will be responsible for leading clinical research and clinical teaching activities to provide best practice patient care, achieve maximal operational effectiveness, developing organisational competencies, and creating strong partnerships within and outside Monash Health. You will be a peer recognised clinical expert with extensive specialist clinical knowledge in the field of Paediatric Orthopaedic Physiotherapy. This role supervises Physiotherapists, Allied Health Assistants and physiotherapy students. You will assist and support the Paediatric Physiotherapy Profession Lead in the overall leadership of the Monash Children’s Hospital physiotherapy team.


This role is classified as a Grade 4 Physiotherapist and is paid according to award rates with post graduate qualification allowance as applicable.

What we’re looking for in you:



  • A relevant physiotherapy qualification

  • A relevant post graduate physiotherapy qualification. Specialist Certificate in Paediatric Orthopaedic Physiotherapy (or equivalent) would be highly desirable 

  • Current unconditional AHPRA registration

  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence

  • Significant leadership &/or service development experience

  • Significant physiotherapy clinical experience (at least 10 years)

  • Experience in the management of paediatric orthopaedic conditions

  • Experience in advanced practice paediatric orthopaedic clinic roles

Location


The role will be based at Monash Children’s Hospital. Travel may also be required to Casey and Dandenong Hospitals, and community locations.
