Registered Nurse Div 1 - 5 North/Complex care



  • Fixed Term Position, till August 2022 (parental leave)

  • 32 Hours per week


The Royal Women’s Hospital is Australia’s first and largest specialist hospital dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of newborns and women of all ages. The Women’s hospital offers treatment for all gynaecological conditions and is a tertiary referral centre for women with chronic pelvic pain, issues related to menopause, pelvic floor problems or other urogynaecological problems. Women with medical complications in the early part of pregnancy are cared for by the gynaecology units. The Women’s also cares for women who are having a termination of pregnancy or who have complications related to reproductive biology such as IVF.


The major areas of focus for the cancer service are gynaecological and breast cancer. The Oncology Unit has integrated inpatient and low risk chemotherapy services to promote co-ordinated, patient focussed care. Our nursing staff work across all these services. Qualified nursing staff are also rostered to work in the complex care unit which cares for women from both the maternity and gynaecology units who need increased monitoring and intervention.


Your contribution


The Division 1 Registered Nurse is responsible for ongoing clinical management of patients and for providing a high standard of nursing care. This role supports the Unit Manager and AUM group in promoting service development, quality assurance and the provision of a safe and supportive work place. The Registered Nurse Division 1 works collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team. The Women’s has a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring of new staff and the registered nurse is expected to actively pursue their own professional development and education and to support their colleagues and students of the Women’s.


The successful applicant will have:-



  • Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and well-developed written and electronic communication skills

  • Technical skills related to the management of acute symptoms including use of volumetric pumps and care of CVADs

  • Demonstrated good preceptorship skills

  • Clinical experience in acute health sector with a commitment to evidence-based outcomes.

  • Demonstrated critical and reflective thinking skills
